Black Skimmer
The bill of a Black Skimmer sets it apart from all other birds in America. It is knife-thin and the lower mandible is longer than the upper. The skimmer drags the lower bill through the water as it flies along, hoping to catch small fish. It uses the sense of touch to catch fish so they are also able to feed in low light and total darkness.
